In short
Star Teller calculates your chart in your own browser. The date, time and place of birth you enter, and your name if you give one, are never sent anywhere and are not stored: they are gone when you close or reload the page.
There are no accounts, no cookies, no advertising and no tracking.
To work, it also reads a few settings your device shares with every website, such as its clock, time zone and language. These too are used only in your browser, and Star Teller never asks for your location.
Who runs Star Teller
Star Teller is a free, non-commercial project made by KriMa (krimadev.com). Email: krima.develop@gmail.com.
The details you enter
The date, time and place of birth, and the name if you give one, are used only inside your browser, to draw the chart, the sky, the solar system and the descriptions. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are not saved: reloading or closing the page clears them.
Searching for a city sends nothing either: the whole list of cities is downloaded once and searched in your browser.
What the app reads from your device
Like any website, Star Teller can read some of your device's settings. It uses them only inside your browser, never sends them to us or to anyone else, and keeps none of them, apart from the display choices described below:
- The clock and the time zone, for “Now”, for “Use the current date and time”, and to show transits and progressions on your own clock. The time zone is the region named in your device's settings, such as Europe/Sofia, and it is shown next to the transits so you know which clock is meant. It is not your location: Star Teller never asks where you are.
- The browser's language, on your first visit only, to open Star Teller in it when it is one of ours.
- The size and sharpness of the screen, and whether your device asks for less motion, to lay out the page, the wheel and the 3D views.
Pictures and PDFs you download
A picture or PDF of a chart is made in your browser and saved straight to your device: nothing is uploaded. It shows what the chart on screen shows: the name if you gave one, the date, time and place of birth and, with transits or progressions, the moment they are for, with its offset from UTC (such as UTC+3) rather than the name of your time zone. Anyone you share it with will see these details.
What is kept on your device
Your display choices are kept in your browser's local storage, so they are there next time: day or night, the language, the chart settings, and what the sky and solar system views show. They say nothing about you, are never sent anywhere, and you can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. Star Teller uses no cookies.
The transits and progressions you show, the moment they are for, and which parts of the page are open are not kept: they start afresh on every visit.
What the website's host sees
Like every website, Star Teller is delivered to your browser by a host, currently here.now, run by Beanstalk AI, Inc. in the United States, where this information may therefore be processed. When your browser downloads the app and its data files, the host's servers receive technical information such as your IP address, your browser and the time of the request, and may keep it in logs or count visits. This never includes the details you enter in the app. The host's own terms and privacy policy describe how it handles this information. We may see the visit statistics the host provides, such as how often the site was opened.
We use these only to keep the site running and to see whether it is used, which is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
Everything else the app needs, such as fonts, star maps and city names, comes from the same website: no other company is contacted while you use it.
If you write to us
When you send feedback or an email, we receive your email address and what you write, together with the details the feedback link fills in: the app's version, the language, the screen size and the browser. Birth details are only included if you add them yourself.
We use this only to answer you and to improve Star Teller, which is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. It is kept in our email inbox (Gmail, run by Google) for no longer than needed, and never shared with anyone else.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and complain to a data protection authority: in Bulgaria the Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg), or the one where you live. As we never receive the details you enter, there is usually nothing about you for us to show or delete, but you are welcome to ask by writing to krima.develop@gmail.com.
Children
Star Teller is not meant for children under 16.
About the readings
The descriptions are traditional astrological meanings, offered for reflection and entertainment. They are not predictions, and not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
The positions are calculated with care, with the Swiss Ephemeris, but come with no guarantee. For births before 1970 the clock times come from historical records, which are thorough for Europe but thinner elsewhere; before a country took up standard time, the birthplace's local mean time is used. The chart shows the offset from UTC it used, so it can be checked.
